  • The community runs this site. This is built as a part of 90+ StackExchange network site. Islam.SE consists of original Q&A site, meta site to help improve the original site, and this collaboratively edited blog.
  • The moderators and the initial users are muslims as they spent time and helped the site grow at the start. But, technically this site is being run by StackExchange.
  • The need was to have a centralized place for quality Q&A regarding Islam teachings and people’s doubt pertaining to Islam.
  • A handful of people can come together to build a SE network site. Islam was chosen by us. There are SE sites for other religion as well. Have a look at the SE site list.
  • Moderation is not left on one person. If any issue ever arises, several people get to put their opinion. And if you still feel something is wrong, fire away your query on http://meta.islam.stackexchange.com/.
  • Yes it is a sensitive area, and we too hope and work towards not making it defeat islam in some way.
  • Yes, all the Muslim moderators follow Quran and Sunnah as per my knowledge (reading through their posted questions and very detailed answers in some case). Have a look at some Q&A http://islam.stackexchange.com/questions?sort=votes

We receive many abusive question like how you receive poor quality questions on SO. Such questions are deleted and after giving warning abusive users are suspended.
